The Missing

Posted by: Laura Hanna   in General Writing

Dark Shadows Deep
Haunting my life
I’d try to fall asleep
If it weren’t for the night
Now every rustle is a danger
And every shadow wants me dead
Every silence I grow weaker
Chasing these monsters in my head

The Madness

Posted by: Laura Hanna   in General Writing

Throw my Heart on the floor
Really, I can take no more!
Leave it bleeding in the Dust
Thoughts consumed by Love and Lust
The Monument you built for me
On Stolen Time and Wicked Deeds
No one knows what lies in store
For those who Wilt and those who Tore
A serenade of Broken Trust
Cutting through Blue Windswept Gusts
Quiet are Forces that Be
That crawl along the Shattered Sea
This Long Lost Dream I never had
This One Last Memory that drove me MAD!

Love

Posted by: KaylaAlex   in Poetry, Random Thoughts

A flash of light
Across the scales and eyes
Bats away the darkness
Of demise
It saves the soul
And heals the wounds of time
Love conquering the shadow
Spread over like an ocean
But not cold as water is
Rather warm and welcoming…
Something one must earn
Yet equally give

Muse and Contemplation

Posted by: KaylaAlex   in Poetry, Random Thoughts

The night was a time for peace,
A time for healing.
A time for sleep.
Humming the bars of a song
The Gate-walkers step
Through the portal
Into the realm of war and peace.
Where sits the gathering gloom
Lifts the fading fog.
This was what eternal meant
And shall always mean.

Hidden Behind a Mask

   Posted by: BlackWolf   in Poetry

Nobody sees what I want them to see,

When I am hidden behind my mask

The ones of true soul see a cold, heartless rock,

While the other rocks see a pathetic outcast

In both groups I am a freak,

When I am hidden behind my mask

I am a bright sunflower in the foreboding grotto,

Yet I am a black sheep among the beautiful lambs

What do others think of me,

When I am hidden behind my mask? I’ll tell you

Those with which I share the darkness

Feel as if I insult their dominion

By welcoming in the light

And those with which I bask in the light

Feel as if I plague their kingdom with scum

By dragging in the darkness

Where do I belong,

When I am hidden behind my mask?

Those who care not what others think,

Who reside in the dark,

Or those who are constantly fighting amongst each other,

Yet are discretely envied by the former?

Perhaps I belong in solitude,

To wallow in the joy that I take

In both my soul, and the mask that conceals it

I thrive on both; my life would end,

Were either to be changed so that the soul would match the mask

But solitude kills me more than my failed attempts to fit in,

When I am behind my mask

I cannot live with it, nor can I live without it

This is the curse of my wonderful, yet reviled,

My magnificent, yet detestable,

My lovable yet despicable mask

Cancer: Through My Eyes

Posted by: JHarris57   in General Writing

Have you ever experienced the diagnosis of cancer? It creates a pain; a fear; an anger that erodes the fabric of your being. Those words, “you have cancer” creates the illusion of a future that never was. The expression of sadness in the eyes strips the vitality of youth. Have you ever experienced the diagnosis of cancer? Oh, how I long for yesterday! Why us? Where do we turn? To whom do we turn? We look towards the hills and meditate on the Word of God. It is only He who gives us hope and strength.

Peace is Flowing

Posted by: milano   in General Writing

Pecae – what is it? Absence from war?
Absence from noise? Absence from stress?
That is what it is not, but what is peace?
Is it the feeling to be able to loosen every
muscle and every inner fiber knowing that it
is surrouneded by the gentlenes of puffy
clouds? Or is it the feeling that our relaxed
body will be held up with the boyancy of an
object floating in salt water? Ah peace! Is
it the total relaxation of mind and body? Now
that we do not have to worry about the
state of our being, we can be aware of the
beauty and uniqueness that otherwise goes
unnoticed. The leaf gently blowing in the
breeze. It is not concerned how the wind
blows. It is safe. It is attached to its life
giving source – the tree – by its stem.
Are we attached to our Life Giving Source by
the stem of faith? As the leaf moves, parts
of it change in intensity of color as it goes
in and out of sunlight and shade. Did we
ever notice that before?
While still at peace we hear sounds which
were always there, but somehow we never
noticed them. There is the sound of birds
chirping in the trees. It is not a continous
noise. It stops, and begins again. Is there
a pattern to it?
There is the sound of wind or breeze as it
rustles through the trees. The grass suddenly
moves – a blade or two at a time as a bug
or “critter” makes its way on an unknown
journey. That creature, so small, seems to
know its purpose and where it is going.
Perhaps, in this peace we, too, can find
purpose and begin to feel the direction in
which we are going.
There are other sounds of life going on
about us. We can listen to the noise and
not add to the clamor. We can distinguish
the varied sounds: voices, loudness, sortness
anger -joy. The sounds of traffic, which
seem meaningless, but to each there is a
purpose and a destination.
Now we can take hold of the smells about
us. The smell of freshly mowed grass, the
odor of polution from all those cars and
trucks, the aroma of coffee brewing or
pastery baking.
All this peace is flowing – in motion. We
thought that peace was a stillness. Instead
we find that peace is an ongoing movement.
If ther is no movement, there is a state of
stagnant isolation. If the intended motion is
forced to a halt, pressure and stress build
up: peace ceases. Stop – absorb the peace
around you, then continue along your
peaceful movement. If someone should
happen to stop and be aware in peace, he
shall notice you peacefully flowing

Twins

Posted by: milano   in General Writing

Twice as many daipers
Twice as many pins
Twice as much as everything
For me – the mom of twins

But then the tide began to change
With twice as many smiles
That helped me make it through the day
When a few steps seemed like miles

Some say it’s twice the trouble.
I say it’s twice the fun.
Yet, I’m glad when they are sound asleep
At last – their day is done.

It’s then that I sit down to think
That blessings come in pairs
For when my time of need shall come
I’ll have twice as many prayers
