The Shadow
As a girl, I dreamed I was a goddess,
Clothed in white and gold.
Who danced among the midnight clouds,
A sight so clear and bold.
But when I tripped and fell back down,
I realized who I am,
From god to girl is such a drop,
I feared it was my end.
Life with you began so sweetly,
Until you changed your heart,
But now looking back upon that time,
It was me who fell apart.
I never thought I’d live this life,
But now it’s all I own.
As a girl I dreamed of guys and friends,
Now I dream alone.
My only friends in times of hate,
Is the blood I cry,
And the presence of the darkness,
In the shade I hide.
I once thought the world could never,
Make me hurt this much.
But when I scratch, cut, burn or bite,
I feel the shadow’s touch.
